Perhaps the most spectacular and most difficult to explain part about dining aboard a Seabourn yacht is the level of service you receive. It’s really something that is best experienced in person, but I will try to illuminate as best I can. For instance, we discussed in the last post how Charlie Palmer will continue his great relationship with Seabourn by creating menu items for Odyssey. There are so many things to be excited about when booking a luxury cruise. The champagne, the spa treatments, the utter relaxation…..and of course, the food. Cruises are famous for offering a mind-boggling variety of food choices available all day long. The Yachts of Seabourn take dining seriously, and have awards to prove it. What awards, you say? Try the International Five Star Diamond Award by the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences for 13 consecutive years. Additionally, Condé Nast Traveler designated The Yachts of Seabourn as the “Top Cruise Line for Service and Food” in 2006 and 2007. Furthermore, Gourmet pronounced the food “consistently excellent.” Foodies everywhere should rejoice, as this post will just scratch the surface of the culinary excitement Seabourn Odyssey will bring to the table. And Seabourn Odyssey’s first world cruise in January 2010 will also be the first one ever for The Yachts of Seabourn, so that makes it even more special.

Guests aboard the Seabourn Odyssey will be privy to plenty of exciting experiences when the Inaugural World Cruise sets sail. The 108-day journey will span four months and 42 ports.  As if a cruise around the world wasn’t enough, a series of splashy shoreside events aptly named Shoreside Spectaculars will make the tour even more fun. If you ever put together model ships as a child, you might remember how interesting it was to meticulously fit together the wooden deck, the propellers and maybe even the little lifeboats. Model ships require painstaking detail, right? Now multiply that by about 10,000 and you come somewhat close to the work required to build a magnificent yacht like Seabourn Odyssey. (more…)

Guests aboard the eagerly-anticipated maiden voyage of Seabourn Odyssey will share the unprecedented honor of acting as Godparents, an honor usually reserved for royalty or celebrities. The way Seabourn sees it, their guests are the primary reason this vessel is being built. So it makes sense that they should participate in an event symbolizing the beginning of Odyssey’s career.
