With the advent of Seabourn Odyssey and her two sisters, the range of destinations Seabourn guests are exploring expands as well. And since the delivery of the destinations is such an important part of Seabourn yachting life, Helen Panagos, Seabourn’s VP of Shoreside Operations, came up with a plan to totally revamp the company’s destination services resources. Blog correspondent Chief Engineer Neil Carney sent some more photos taken during Odyssey’s time in the drydock. As he told us, at that time most of Seabourn Odyssey’s below-the-waterline equipment was installed while she was “high and dry.” In the first photo below, you see a view of Seabourn Odyssey that you’re unlikely to ever see again, showing the beautiful new five-blade propellers, the rudders and the all-important propeller shafts. We have said before that Seabourn enjoys a very high rate of repeat guest bookings. More fantastic and exciting updates from Neil Carney, Chief Engineer…
“On a lovely, sunny weekend in Genoa we watched the construction block of the Atrium “Dome” being lifted on board. It is 8 mtrs (25 feet) in diameter, stands approx 9 mtrs (28 feet) high at the rear and 4 mtrs (13 feet) at the front.” (more…)

“I write this as an update to both my blog of 3rd Nov’08 – Seabourn Sojourn’s (MAR063) Wartsila Engine FAT’s and what’s just happening in Port Nogaro with those engines. I also hope it answers the interest raised in the comment written by Wayne E Porter to that blog report.” (more…)
We often see online articles where our fellow cruise community members are kind enough to mention Seabourn. The articles are always fun and interesting, so we thought it would be fun to feature them on the Odyssey Blog and call them Recent Raves. For instance, have you ever visited bestblogsatsea.com? Written by John Heald, Senior Cruise Director of Carnival Cruise Lines, it recently named the Odyssey Blog as one of the “Top 10 Best Cruise Blogs” online. We posted John’s introduction to Best Blogs At Sea below… (more…)
Most Seabourn guests book through travel agents, and a number of those agents are members of a network of travel advisors called Virtuoso. We asked Matthew Upchurch, CEO of Virtuoso, to tell us how Seabourn matches up with the Virtuoso philosophy and also what he is looking forward to with the launch of Seabourn Odyssey. Here is his answer: (more…)
