name 300x224 The Lady Has a Name...

The latest update from Neil Carney at the Odyssey shipyard….

As we all know Seabourn Odyssey will be named in Venice. But it is a proud moment to actually see her name spelled out on the bow. As you can see from the photo, the starboard bow now has the steel letters of her name spot welded in place. (more…)

Monday, January 12th, 2009

Check out the latest update from Neil Carney at the Odyssey shipyard….

“The year has started with a touch of white in Genoa. On the first real day back after the new year break, Genoa was hit with a bit of Arctic weather, SNOW, which caused havoc with the local transportation including the airport being closed for most of the day.”

Incredible New Pictures of Seabourn Odyssey

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

Blog correspondent Chief Engineer Neil Carney sent some more photos taken during Odyssey’s time in the drydock. As he told us, at that time most of Seabourn Odyssey’s below-the-waterline equipment was installed while she was “high and dry.”  In the first photo below, you see a view of Seabourn Odyssey that you’re unlikely to ever see again, showing the beautiful new five-blade propellers, the rudders and the all-important propeller shafts. Brand New Seabourn Odyssey Pool and Spa Pics

Thursday, December 11th, 2008

More fantastic and exciting updates from Neil Carney, Chief Engineer…

“On a lovely, sunny weekend in Genoa we watched the construction block of the Atrium “Dome” being lifted on board. Fabrication of the dome was completed only the day before in one of the vast construction halls here at Mariotti shipyards (see picture below). The Atrium is just forward of the funnels and will provide an impressive focal point as you enter the Spa area from the open deck area (of deck 9) above the pool. It is 8 mtrs (25 feet) in diameter, stands approx 9 mtrs (28 feet) high at the rear and 4 mtrs (13 feet) at the front.” (more…)

Engine Facts from Odyssey’s Chief Engineer

Monday, December 8th, 2008

Our shipyard correspondent Chief Engineer Neil Carney has filed an update on the engines pictured in an earlier report. Those, as you may recall, were destined for the second Seabourn sister: Seabourn Sojourn.

“I write this as an update to both my blog of 3rd Nov’08 – Seabourn Sojourn’s (MAR063) Wartsila Engine FAT’s and what’s just happening in Port Nogaro with those engines. I also hope it answers the interest raised in the comment written by Wayne E Porter to that blog report.” (more…)
