Belgian National Day With Celebrity Chef Pierre Wynants

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010

On Wednesday, July 21, the Executive Chef de Cuisine Rob van Leeuwen and the staff on Seabourn Odyssey organized a special private celebratory dinner to honor the Belgian National Day. Among the 29 Belgian guests who attended the dinner were legendary Belgian chef Pierre Wynants and his wife Marie, who are vacationing on board.  Chef Wynants is one of the world’s most honored chefs, having earned three Michelin stars for his Brussels restaurant Comme Chez Soi (“Like at Home”).  Chef Wynants professed himself amazed by the food and service on Seabourn Odyssey.

Shown below, left to right: Chef van Leeuwen, Maitre d’Hotel Antony Bernardi, Chef Wynants, Mrs. Wynants, Captain Mark Dexter and Guest Services Manager Jo Poelmans.

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

We’ve talked about the Sun Terrace that is situated high atop Odyssey on Deck 11. That is the location with tiered banks of double sun loungers for sun worshippers and those who just like to relax, listen to their iPods and read. (more…)

Seabourn Odyssey Moves to Genoa Drydock – New Pics!

Monday, May 18th, 2009

Seabourn Odyssey is in the drydock in Genoa, having finishing touches put on the parts of the hull below the waterline. Meanwhile the men and women of her crew are starting the move-in process. Because they are in a drydock, it’s only possible to put up one small gangway –but that won’t stop a Seabourn crew. They gamely took up positions shoulder to shoulder and simply started loading on that way. Well done! (more…)

Why is Odyssey Bigger than Other Seabourn Yachts? The Answer Might Surprise You.

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

Guests who have sailed on Seabourn Pride, Spirit and Legend will notice differences in Seabourn Odyssey right away. Odyssey is, after all, quite a bit bigger than her older sisters. But it’s important to remember what all that extra size is being used for. Odyssey wasn’t designed to be bigger just for the sake of the size. The new yacht includes features and amenities that a lot of guests have been suggesting for years. (more…)

Seabourn Odyssey

Just about 11 weeks to go until the launch of Seabourn Odyssey, and the work is progressing at top speed. Just look at this new picture with both funnel hoods in place and the protective tarps stripped off the verandas along the port side. You can clearly see the sleek bloodlines of a thoroughbred Seabourn yacht. (more…)

April Funnels Day?

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

with funnel2 300x224 April Funnels Day?

But this is all true, I promise. Yet another enhancement has been added to Seabourn Odyssey’s profile. The distinctive vaned funnel has been mounted on the port side and the “skyline” of Seabourn Odyssey starts to look really familiar. You can also see the main mast in proportion to the rest of the yacht, so it looks different than it did in our earlier post about that being mounted.  It’s getting closer every day!
