There are many ways to measure a vacation’s success — by miles travelled, locations explored, lessons learned, people encountered, and cultures experienced.
We had the good fortune to sail on Seabourn’s inaugural world cruise on the Odyssey in 2010. And whether our adventure took us to familiar territory or new, we learned something. We watched long-held assumptions disappear. We learned to appreciate local customs, understand cultural differences, and see situations for what they were. Each morning we stood on our veranda to see the glassy sea, or thatched huts on a hillside, or busy, colorful ports. We heard local music at every stop – Chinese gongs, Indian sitars, even bagpipes in Oman!
The ship provided great lectures, musicians, comedians, dancers, cooking demonstrations and four o’clock tea. We met wonderful people, all seasoned travellers with unforgettable stories.
Our experience was so special that we have booked another Seabourn cruise, this time on the Quest. We’re counting the days!
