Seabourn Moments

On 26 January 2014 my husband and I departed Sydney on board Seabourn Odyssey bound for New Zealand.  It was a beautiful sunny day and we left White Bay Terminal at 4.00 pm.  It was the most joyful moment as we passed the Sydney Opera House.  There were still many people, and boats in the harbour, celebrating Australia Day.  The atmosphere on the Odyssey was wonderful.  Everyone was on deck taking in the sights, sipping champagne or cocktails, listening to the band playing "Waltzing Matilda" and sampling Lamingtons.  The crew members were dressed in big hats with corks dangling!  Everyone was having fun.  A truly magical moment! ... read more

In 2011 my husband and I came to Europe on a holiday.  While he was playing golf in Scotland, my very close friend who had now moved back to England and I planned a trip.  Gillian had been bravely fighting cancer and we decided a cruise would be a relaxing way to spend the week. This was our first cruise and I chose Seabourn Legend due to its intimate size.  That cruise around Italy gave Gilly and I so many wonderful memories.  Gilly enjoyed the trip so much that she felt comfortable enough to go on a cruise on the Seabourn Spirit herself earlier the next year.  She loved the Seabourn cruises. Later that year in 2012 Gilly, my husband, and I met up again on the Seabourn Odyssey and did the Black Sea, Greek and Turkey 14 day cruise.  We had such a great time.   ... read more

A glimpse at Robin's notes to Fellow travelers only re-affirms that you cannot see it all (most frustrating to me is having missed seeing the whales at Gerlache Strait). However, ours was a once-in-a lifetime cruise - and we have been all over. I cannot believe that we saw so much in a well organized, friendly and rewarding cruise. On that cruise a man came to me, he was an Anglican priest from Australia and asked me: are you also a priest? I am always wearing a golden cross to show I am a Christian but not a priest. But thanks to this meeting, the following Saturday, he celebrated Holy Mass and I was assisting with 20 people. So this was a very touchy event on the Legend in the middle of the sea.
