Seabourn Odyssey Shipyard Gets a Touch of Winter White

Check out the latest update from Neil Carney at the Odyssey shipyard….

“The year has started with a touch of white in Genoa. On the first real day back after the new year break, Genoa was hit with a bit of Arctic weather, SNOW, which caused havoc with the local transportation including the airport being closed for most of the day.”

“As you can see from the photo’s, we had snow not only in the city ( in the foreground you can see the port authority control tower and Genoa’s famous Lighthouse), and on the hills, but also around the deck 8 pool.”

“This has not stopped the progress of work. In some other shots you can see us carrying out final inspections of some of the tanks and their coatings. The white tank is one of our large Potable water storage tank and the other two photos show one of our forward ballast tanks. The size and access, as you can see, is a bit more challenging for some of us who possibly overindulged in the festive Christmas turkey.”

“The paint system used on Odyssey is by “Jotun,” a very experienced and well known supplier of paints for the marine industry. Each coating is required to do a specific job, such as keeping the hull clean and smooth to help with speed and fuel consumption. The coating process being designed at conception and carried out during the build process, (some of it visible to our guests and a large portion not visible,) can be seen from the tanks, The end result is a gleaming Yacht when Seabourn Odyssey is delivered from the building yard.”

Snow capped mountains in the background look beautiful, as does the paint job on the ship! Hope it’s not too cold for you guys, all the best.
