In 2011 my husband and I came to Europe on a holiday. While he was playing golf in Scotland, my very close friend who had now moved back to England and I planned a trip. Gillian had been bravely fighting cancer and we decided a cruise would be a relaxing way to spend the week. This was our first cruise and I chose Seabourn Legend due to its intimate size. That cruise around Italy gave Gilly and I so many wonderful memories. Gilly enjoyed the trip so much that she felt comfortable enough to go on a cruise on the Seabourn Spirit herself earlier the next year. She loved the Seabourn cruises. Later that year in 2012 Gilly, my husband, and I met up again on the Seabourn Odyssey and did the Black Sea, Greek and Turkey 14 day cruise. We had such a great time.
Sadly my brave wonderful friend lost her long flight with cancer in February. When I flew from Australia to her funeral this year, in my Eulogy, I shared some of those fun times we shared on the cruises. Gilly wanted to do the Carribean cruise next. My husband and I embark on our Carribean cruise on Boxing Day at the end of this year on the Seabourn Spirit. Sadly now while not joining us, Gilly will definitely be with us in spirit as we take that cruise. We have never done a cruise without her!!! I know many of the staff and passengers got to know Gilly so it is with sadness we share the passing of such a wonderful person but Gilly's memories will live on, particularly in the times we spent cruising. Seabourn became a very special part of our lives.
